The Willems Family
According to Dorothy Bennet and Mary Jackson, their parents, Grace and Paul Willems, valued Catholic education and helping those in need. Growing up, the family was rich in faith and generosity, but not always in monetary wealth. Although at times they struggled to make ends meet, they did their best to save for the future.
After Paul passed away, Grace wanted to continue his generosity and commitment to giving back. She reached out to Rick Kremel, Catholic Financial Life Advisor and Board Member of the Catholic Financial Life Foundation, for advice on how to commemorate her husband and help those in need. With the help of the Foundation, Grace was able to earmark her donations to 10 different organizations.
Following Grace’s passing, her daughters, Dorothy and Mary, wanted to continue their parent’s legacy. They wanted to develop a scholarship based on Catholic values and education in their parent’s name. With help from the Catholic Financial Life Foundation, a scholarship fund was created to honor the values their parents lived by.
To further continue Paul and Grace’s legacy, Dorothy purchased an insurance policy through Catholic Financial Life with the money her parents left to her. Following in her parent’s footsteps, Dorothy named a few local charities as the beneficiary of her policy. Mary also earmarked money left to her to a few charities closest to her heart.
