Servant of the Poor

2022 Archbishop Jerome Listecki Society of Saint Vincent de Paul “Servant of the Poor Award”

Winners were selected in 2021 and will be honored at this year's Fraternal Celebration.

Servant of the Poor Award

In recognition of Catholic Financial Life’s common cause, to serve the needs of the poor, and our partnership with the Society of Saint Vincent de Paul (SVdP), our National Spiritual Director, the Most Rev. Jerome A. Listecki, Archbishop of Milwaukee, commissioned a pencil sketch of the life of Saint Vincent de Paul that now hangs outside of the president’s office in Catholic Financial Life’s Home Office. He also presented our Society with a limited number of prints autographed by the artist. In return, we established an award to honor a Catholic Financial Life member who embodies both our mission, “serving God through serving others,” as well as the spirit of prayerful giving exhibited by Saint Vincent de Paul.

The Servant of the Poor Award

The Servant of the Poor Award will be presented at Catholic Financial Life’s Triennial Fraternal Celebration in August. The award recipient and their guest will receive complimentary accommodations and meals during the convention. The recipient will also receive a beautifully framed sketch depicting the life of Saint Vincent de Paul, autographed by the artist, Rev. Anthony Brankin, pastor of Saint Odilo Parish of Berwyn, Ill. The piece tells the story of Saint Vincent de Paul’s life of charity and evangelization that is at the heart of the mission of SVdP. A conference of SVdP will receive a $250 grant from Catholic Financial Life in the honoree’s name. The award will be presented to a member who best exhibits an ongoing commitment to a conference or district council of SVdP or, in areas not served by a conference or district council, for work focusing on the needs of the poor.
