Archbishop Listecki Servant of the Poor Award

Purpose

In recognition of Catholic Financial Life's common cause, to serve the needs of the poor, and our partnership with the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, our National Spiritual Director, the Most Rev. Jerome A. Listecki, Archbishop of Milwaukee, commissioned a pencil sketch of the life of Saint Vincent de Paul that now hangs outside the boardroom in Catholic Financial Life's Home Office. He also presented our Society with a limited number of prints autographed by the artist, Father Anthony Brankin. In return, we established an award to honor a Catholic Financial Life member who embodies both our mission of "serving God through serving others," as well as the spirit of prayerful giving exhibited by Saint Vincent de Paul.

About the Award

The 2018 Servant of the Poor Award will be presented at the Triennial Council of Catholic Financial Life to take place September 21-23. The recipient and a guest will receive complimentary accommodations and meals during the Triennial Council.

The honoree will receive a beautifully framed sketch depicting the life of Saint Vincent de Paul (pictured left), autographed by the artist, Rev. Anthony Brankin, pastor of St. Odilo Parish in Berwyn, Illinois. The circular montage tells the story of charity and evangelization that was at the heart of the mission of Saint Vincent.

In recognition of the honor, a conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will received a $250 grant from Catholic Financial Life in the honoree's name. The award will be presented to a member who best exhibits an ongoing commitment to a conference or district council of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul or, in areas not served by a conference or district council, for work focusing on the needs of the poor.
