It’s now Wednesday, June 22. We are three days away from departing to the Dominican Republic. Immunizations have been taken, plans have been set and prayers have been said. Our activities and plans have been finalized, but we are open and flexible to anything God sends our way next week. The families in the parish are eager to see us and we couldn’t be more excited to interact with all of them. A total of 31 young adults from Milwaukee (and beyond) are about to have the week of a lifetime. And we are about to go through it TOGETHER.
In our orientation meetings, many participants mentioned how they want to grow in their faith with God. Some are at crossroads in their life, unsure of the next step. They hope that this trip will provide some clarity and reflection time that will allow them to experience renewal in the Spirit. As a group, we all are looking to grow as individuals, both spiritually and mentally. As Father Camacho alluded to in the article last week, we want to return to Milwaukee as transformed people. We are prepared to experience everything that La Sagrada Familia Parish has to offer us next week and we are prepared to offer all we have in return. After two orientation sessions and three group leader meetings, our minds and hearts are in the right place.
We want to thank all of you who have prayed for our group and for the people we will be meeting. These prayers and good vibes are felt by all of us. Some people give by going. Others go by giving. Thank you all for going on this trip by giving your prayers and reflection time to us and our brothers and sisters in the Dominican Republic. We ask that you continue these thoughts as we depart early Saturday morning and into next week. You’re with us on this trip whether or not you realize it. We’re ready to experience it with all of you.
As the Jesuit priests would say, it’s time to “go forth and set the world on fire.” Please stay tuned to our website and Facebook page for videos, pictures and reflections. We are blessed with this opportunity and we are looking forward to keeping you all informed of our experiences!
